The Dream Team

If you could have a sack full of primes which ones would they be?  We’ve assembled our own dream team of modern day glass for you to enjoy.  Comments are open so let us know what you think.

1.  Nikon 14mm f2.8D

2.  Nikon Af-s 24mm f/1.4

3.  Pentax FA 31mm f/1.8

4.  Leica Noctilux M 50mm f/0.95

5.  Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L

That’s our top five here at PTC.  If you think we could have done better your probably wrong but give it a shot anyway.

Yes, a dream team for sure. But – for us more humble people with a more normal budget, I would like to see new, cheaper primes. My dreamteam for my ‘Nikon D300 is a new dx lens wa, like a 18 mm f2.0. That one should be a prefect match for the 35mm/1.8 I got today.

A dx 18mm f2 would be the shit. You’ve got friends at PTC. I’ll chew on Nikon’s ear for ya!

What’s doing there the Canon 85 1.2?? Is Canon sponsoring this blog?? The Nikon 85mm f1.4 is much better, it’s a fact. 😀

That’s what we like. A sense of humor. I was starting to think no one gets us.

You’re totally nuts. Only one Leica, and it’s the Noctilux? No way.

If you choose five primes, a MINIMUM of four of them should be Leica, and anyway the Summilux 50 is way better (plus smaller) than the Noctilux.

The Canon 85 1.2 is a great lens, by the way, but you need to stop down to f:2.5 to get rid of chromatic aberration, which is a pity.

Eduardo, you right about one thing. We’re totally nuts. Assemble your own dream team and email it to bigjuicykris@yahoo.com. We’ll feature it on the site. Thanks for your comments.

well, Ive been looking at the 200mm F2.0 VR I’m really diggin that Idea.
And what about the DC lineup? Those are both dreamy too…
and don’t forget the odd ball: like Nikon Noct 58mm f1.2. I know its manual but Loooook at the bokkeh! It makes my mouth salivate…

Does any one here have experience with creating their own lenses? or know of a web site that does this?

Also Ive been reading about some minor problems the new Nikon 24mm f1.4 has been having….whats up with that??

    cheers y’all!

Hi Mat, the Nikon Noct 58mm f1.2 is basically a rebranded Minolta Rokkor 58mm f1.2.

If you want sample Images, mail me 😉
