Four Thirds: The saga continues…maybe

May 26, 2010 2 comments

A good friend and ex Olympus rep divulged some information to us yesterday.  This is not the type of rumor we like to report on at PTC but we’re going to anyway.  If you’ve been waiting for some new Four Thirds primes, or other lenses for that matter, don’t hold your breath.  There are no new primes or zooms to be developed for Four Thirds at this point.  She couldn’t even confirm that they’re working on a successor to the E-3.  Olympus is too busy milking all it can from its new cash cow (MFT).   On the plus side she confirmed that a 50mm macro for MFT will be unveiled at Photokina.  Well, one prime is better than none at all.

This image comes courtesy of Tokyo Camera Style.  When I saw it I couldn’t resist.  What your seeing here is a Olympus E-PL1 with Zeiss 28mm f2.8 M mount lens and a sweet fuckin’ half case too!  There ain’t a zoom lens on the planet that looks this cool hanging off a camera body.  We’ve added Tokyo Camera Style to our blogroll so check ’em out.
